How does Spring Impact the Skin?
18 September 2023
IT WOULD BE TRUE TO SAY that our industry is predominantly comprised of women. As a rule, women are sensitive, intuitive and compassionate and they are feelers. So, it is not uncommon at this time that many of you are carrying a level of unrest and even grief. Unless you have been hiding under a rock, I am sure you are familiar with the current riots and demonstrations that the world is experiencing on the issue of social justice. Added to that the stress of returning to work and trying to adjust to the “new” way of operating and running your business.
I am sure at least in your professional career these are unprecedented times, so they require a new way of thinking that can help you survive or manage your situation better. At this time, even some of the strongest people I know have experienced panic attacks.
This is where neuroscience can help us access some incredible tools to reshape our brain and manage these stresses better.
One important discovery known as neuroplasticity offers us new tools so that we don’t remain victims of our circumstances.
Neuroplasticity is the change that the brain can undergo to form and reorganise synaptic connections, especially in response to learning or experiences, or following injury or trauma. This is incredible news, especially when you are experiencing overwhelm and you develop negative patterns of thought that can spiral you to on-going stress or depression, whether occasionally or chronically.
Neuroplasticity teaches us how we can access activities and thought-patterns that can change our neural pathways and synapses, which occur due to certain factors, such as behaviour, environment, or thought processes. During such changes, the brain engages in synaptic pruning, deleting the neural connections that are no longer necessary or useful, while strengthening the necessary ones that can help us think more productively.
In essence, understanding and accessing these tools will allow us to let go of a negative thought- patterns and adopt a new way of thinking that can help us cope better and rise above our challenges with greater ease.
And here is the good news! In our upcoming online conference, we have secured two amazing speakers. THE world expert on neuroplasticity Dr Caroline Leaf who will address the topic of CULTIVATING A WINNING MINDSET.
Dr Leaf is a world-renowned communication pathologist and cognitive neuroscientist with a Masters and PhD in Communication Pathology and a BSc Logopaedics, specialising in cognitive and metacognitive neuropsychology. Since the early 1980s, she has researched the mind-brain connection, the nature of mental health and the formation of memory. She was one of the first in her field to study how the brain can change through neuroplasticity with directed mind input. Throughout over 30 years of clinical practice, she has helped hundreds of thousands of people learn how to use their mind to detox and grow their brain to succeed in every area of their lives including school, university, and the workplace. Dr Leaf is also the bestselling author of Switch on Your Brain, Think Learn Succeed, Think and Eat Yourself Smart, and many more. Dr Leaf is based in South Africa and travels the world lecturing on this subject.
We are thrilled that she has accepted to present one of her lectures at our on-line conference for the benefit of our delegates. This is a lecture you can’t afford to miss!
Additionally, we will also feature Dr Carol Newall, a highly-esteemed mental health expert from Sydney who will address the topic of AVOIDING BURNOUT IN THE WORKPLACE DUE TO COVID-19. Dr Newall is a qualified Clinical Psychologist and holds both Bachelor, Masters and PhD degrees in Behavioural Neuroscience with the University of NSW. She is also a postdoctoral fellow at the Centre of Emotional Health, Macquarie University and is a senior lecturer at the Department of Educational Studies at Macquarie University.
Between these two dynamic experts, I am sure we will all gain some valuable tools to help shape our thinking for a better future.
Noting but the very best for you!
GREAT NEWS REGARDING OUR CONFERENCE – NEW DATES 20TH -27TH JULY
We have had an incredible response regarding our conference program, however, many of you have asked if we can defer the event for another month, enabling you to settle in with the new regulations. Additionally, most businesses are currently booked-out so they felt if we gave them a few more weeks they would be better positioned to register and take full advantage of our Online Conference event.
This will allow many of you to schedule which lectures – if not all of them – you would wish to view. We will be finalising the times within the next day or so, please check and start planning – this even will be transformational, we guarantee you that.
