This includes changes to the 13 Principles that all businesses must abide by.

This document presents in detail, the obligation of business owners and their staff on how they are required to gather, store and dispose of personal information and is part of the complete version of the legislation.
An abbreviated summary of the 13 Principles
This document has been developed specifically for our industries and includes a shorter version of the 13 Principles as they relate to our industry.
Please include this in your Policies and Procedures Training Manual and staff should be required to review their compliance with these principles from time to time.
Privacy Policy for Display Purposes
This document is a statement that you are abiding by the regulatory guidelines in the way you handle their personal information.
Please make sure you display it in your reception area where clients can see it.

The Privacy Act requires that businesses are required to make their Privacy Policy documentation available for clients to view if they so require.
To comply with this requirement, please ensure that the
An Abbreviated Summary version of the 13 Principles Document should be available at the business’s reception desk to present to any client or patient who requests to view your Privacy Policy on how you use their personal information.
